I was beyond exciexcited to try this baby out!  I love cooking, and the timer on my stove must have a short in it..because I can set the timer and it will reset itself all of the time.   I use this as a timer only.  See next review as to why I use it as a timer only. It works so well.  The beeping you get when the timer goes off is not too loud, but loud enough so you can hear it in the next room.  The timer has a magnet on the back, which allows you to put the timer securely on the fridge.  And boy does it hold well on the fridge.  It doesn't move down when you open and close the door.  Even slamming doesn't pull it out of place!
